What is iGHOSTA?
iGHOSTA is a personal chat app and secure messenger for Android, made by the developer Dcodex. Most chat apps were designed to keep everything forever and to show everyone when you are online. iGHOSTA does the opposite. It is a private messaging app for personal chats where encryption, disappearing messages and control over your own visibility are switched on by design, not hidden in settings.
Private chat without a phone number
Many messengers ask for your mobile number and then show it to everyone you talk to. With iGHOSTA you sign in with your Google account and pick an @username. People find you by that username, so you can start a private chat without sharing your phone number. You choose who gets your username, and you can block or report anyone at any time.
End-to-end encrypted chat, explained simply
iGHOSTA is an encrypted chat app. Every message and photo is encrypted on your phone before it is sent and can only be decrypted on the phone of the person you are talking to. Two well-known building blocks make this work:
- X25519 lets two phones agree on a shared secret key without ever sending that key over the internet.
- AES-256-GCM uses that key to lock each message so it cannot be read or changed on the way.
Your encryption keys can also be saved in an encrypted key backup protected by a password only you know, so you can move to a new phone without giving anyone else access.
Disappearing messages: chats that clean up after themselves
iGHOSTA is a disappearing messages app by default. You do not have to remember to delete anything:
- Text messages are deleted automatically after 30 days.
- Photos are deleted 1 hour after they are seen, or after 24 hours if they are not opened.
No last seen, and Ghost Mode
There is no "last seen" in iGHOSTA. Your online status is shown only briefly, and only to your contacts. When you want to step away completely, turn on Ghost Mode: it hides your name, photo and chat from your contacts without deleting any of your messages. Turn it off and everything is back, just as you left it.
